Entergy officials joined with business and community leaders and elected officials at the Nelson Power Station in Westlake today to “cut the wire” on one of the largest single transmission projects in Entergy’s history.

Taking a major step toward providing additional efficient, clean energy resources for new and existing customers and modernizing the company’s power generation fleet, Entergy Corporation announced that its subsidiaries, Entergy Arkansas, Inc., Entergy Louisiana, LLC, and Entergy New Orleans, Inc., closed their purchase of the 1,980-megawatt (summer rating) Union Power Station located near El Dorado, Arkansas. The purchase was closed on Thursday.
Entergy New Orleans, Inc. crews began working Monday, Jan. 4 on Lafayette Street from South Galvez Street to Bertrand Street, as the company continues the technological upgrade to its electric power transmission system. Work on this segment will continue through Monday, Jan. 11, weather permitting, and will include the project’s final Interstate 10 crossing.
Beginning Wednesday, Dec. 9 and running through Monday, Dec. 14, weather permitting, Entergy New Orleans, Inc. crews will be working on South Galvez Street, from Erato to Poydras streets, as the company continues the technological upgrade to its electric power transmission system. Work on these segments will include crossing Interstate 10.

On Monday, Oct. 5, Entergy New Orleans, Inc. will begin the second phase - Ninemile generation-Derbigny substation - and expects to complete it by March 2016.
